I was interested in the way women wear eyeshadow and how most of the time you can only see the details when their eyes are closed. I sought to translate the attributes of eyeshadow into a digital medium.
I wanted to recreate the scenario by using light to pain the user’s eyelids: when the user blinks or closes their eyes, light will emit from the device painting across the eyelid.
To digitize the experience even more and I programmed the individual LEDs to vary their brightness. This added feature allows different patterns to light upon the eyelids and is a powerful tool for drawing attention.
The wires are insulated and held in a wire frame that balances on your face and tucked behind the ear. The lilypad is lightly weighted to keep everything in place.
